Plus Effort

Compare

How we compare.

Custom apparel decisions for an athletic program almost always come down to a comparison. The renewal email lands from a national vendor, a coach asks a peer at another school, an athletic director reads a case study. The question is not 'should I buy custom uniforms.' It is 'which of these three or four people should I buy them from.'

These are the comparisons Plus Effort runs against most often, written from the inside. Independent. Not affiliated with the named companies. Not hit pieces. Each page lays the trade-offs out as a matrix and lets the program decide.

The editorial posture.

  • Independent and on the record. Plus Effort is not affiliated with BSN Sports, SquadLocker, or any other vendor named on these pages. The comparisons are written from our perspective and are clearly labeled as such.
  • No customer claims. V1 of these pages does not name a school as a Plus Effort customer because we are still building that book of business. The "switch story" archetypes describe the kind of program that tends to switch, not specific schools that have switched.
  • When the other vendor is the right call. Each page closes with a "When the other vendor is the right call" row in the matrix. If your program fits that profile, the matrix tells you so directly. We would rather you be served well by the right vendor than poorly by us.

The comparisons.

  1. 01

    Plus Effort vs BSN Sports.

BSN Sports is the largest national team apparel vendor in the country. They built a real distribution network and a deep catalog. Plus Effort is the opposite operating model: two founders, one calendar, Virginia-only, no support queue. This is the comparison Virginia coaches and athletic directors actually run when the renewal email lands.

    Plus Effort vs SquadLocker.

SquadLocker built a team-store platform. Programs set up an online store; parents and athletes self-serve the order. Plus Effort built a custom-uniform service: two founders, in-person fit sessions, full kit ownership. Two different operating models, two different fits. This is the comparison Virginia programs run when they decide which model their season actually needs.
