What we collect, and why
Ordering gear should not cost you your privacy. Here is everything we hold, in plain language, including the part most parents care about: your kid's name and number.
Effective September 23, 2026. Plus Effort, LLC, Charlottesville, Virginia.
Who you are dealing with
Plus Effort, LLC runs the shop. We operate it on the school's behalf, but we are the seller of record on every order. That means the payment, the sales tax, and the fulfillment run through us, not through the school. Your card details never go to the school. We take your payment, and we pay the school its share of merchandise sales afterward; the school never handles your money or your card.
What we collect
- Contact details. Your name, email address, and phone number.
- Shipping address. The full address you enter at checkout, when the order ships.
- Order contents. What you bought, the sizes and colors, the amount, and any note you leave us.
- Personalization text, which may include a minor's name and jersey number. If you type a player's name or number on a product page, we hold that text. It is usually a child's name. We treat it as the most sensitive thing on this list.
- Sales credit, which is also usually a minor's name. Some fundraiser products ask which player gets credit for the sale. That is a separate field from personalization: it is never printed on anything and never goes to our fulfillment partner or our marketing-automation provider. It is stored with your order, visible to our team, and used for one purpose: so the program can recognize its top sellers. Whether and how it reaches the program is covered under school data sharing below.
- Payment details. Handled by our payment processor, not by us. We never see or store your full card number.
Your kid's name and number
Personalization exists for one reason: to put the right name on the right jersey. We use it to produce and pack your order, and we echo it back in your confirmation email so you can see exactly what we received. Check it the moment it arrives: a shipped order goes into production right away, so a correction has to reach us immediately.
We do not use a player's name or number for marketing. We do not build a profile on a child. Here is everywhere it goes: to our fulfillment partner, because that is who prints it; into your confirmation email, sent through our email provider, so you can see it; and into our own order records and the internal alert our team receives for every personalized order, which is how we handle a name or number the printing system cannot carry on its own. Those internal records live with our hosting providers. It goes nowhere else.
Our store is for parents, coaches, and other adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and a child should not place an order themselves. A player's name or number reaches us only when the adult placing the order types it in. If you think a child has sent us their information directly, text or email us and we will delete it.
Why we hold it
To take your order, charge the right amount, collect Virginia sales tax, produce the gear, get it to you, and answer you when something goes wrong. We also use your email to send order updates; those are service emails. Separately, when our marketing-automation provider is switched on, we send it your name, email, phone number, and what you ordered so it can send you post-purchase emails about the shop. Every one of those emails carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing never affects your order.
Who else sees it
The companies that have to touch an order to complete it, each getting only the piece it needs, plus one optional marketing transfer that is called out separately below.
- Our payment processor. Takes the card and charges it. They hold the card details; we hold the receipt. They also receive your name, email, and phone number so your orders link to one customer record, and your shipping address and line amounts so the right sales tax is calculated.
- Our marketing-automation provider. When it is switched on, receives your name, email, phone number, and the items and value of your order, for the post-purchase emails described above. Never a card number, never a player's name or number.
- Our fulfillment partner. Gets your name, shipping address, email, items, and personalization text so the right gear reaches the right person. The email is for their order tracking only; they do not send you mail, we do.
- Our email provider. Sends your confirmation and ready-to-ship notices.
- Our analytics provider. Measures how pages and checkout perform so we can fix what is broken. On the store it records which pages you view and when you leave them, and keeps a random visitor identifier in a cookie and in your browser's local storage so visits can be counted. When you check out, it also receives your order number, the order subtotal, and how many items you bought, and the confirmation page address it records includes your order number and the payment processor's reference for the payment. Those identify the order, not your card. It never receives what you type into a form, or any personalization, sales-credit, or contact text shown on the page.
We do not sell your information, and we do not hand it over for anyone else's advertising. We will share it if the law requires it.
The partner school or team can get two things from us. For orders you chose to pick up, a pickup list with the buyer's name, the player's name, and the items, so the right bag goes to the right family at the handoff; shipped orders are not on it. For fundraisers that credit sales to players, a tally of sales by credited player, so the program can recognize its top sellers. The school never sees your email, phone number, address, or payment details.
How long we keep it
We keep order records, including any name or number you had printed, for seven years after the order. We are registered to collect Virginia sales tax, and that is how long we keep the records a sales tax audit can ask for. Personalization is part of the order record, so it follows the same schedule. After that we delete it.
Page-view analytics are not part of the order record. The visitor identifier stays in your browser until you clear its cookies and site data, which you can do at any time; ask us and we will have the analytics records tied to your visits deleted too.
Ask what we hold, or have it deleted
Email hello@pluseffort.com from the address you ordered with and tell us what you want: a copy of what we hold, a correction, or a deletion. We will confirm it is really you before we act on it.
One limit worth saying out loud: we have to keep enough of the record to satisfy our tax and accounting obligations, so a deletion clears what we can clear and not the sales record itself.
